Youth Curling Program

About Our Junior Curling Program

The Triangle Curling Club junior program has been a part of the club since the club moved to its dedicated ice on So-Hi Drive. The Sunday afternoon program allows youth to be introduced to the sport, develop their skills and techniques, and play short games. The club is thrilled when juniors fall in love with the sport and become active participants in Triangle Curling Club’s leagues, events, and especially when they reflect and model the spirit of curling.

Within our junior curling program, there are two slightly different opportunities for youth to engage with the sport - Advanced Commitment and Recreational Curling. Please read the descriptions below. If you have questions, please contact our junior program coordinators at This email address is being protected from spambots. Juniors Curling Schedule

Junior curling is held just about every Sunday that there is not an event at the club. Check out the club calendar for specific dates.

Junior Recreational Curling

Description: Approximately 10 - 15 minutes of instruction followed by a recreational game (alongside/with AC juniors, with coaching if desired/needed). Ideal for new juniors or those interested in curling recreationally. Triangle Curling Club is excited to offer a limited amount of financial assistance to junior curlers participating in the recreational league. As the Triangle’s only dedicated curling facility, we commit to advancing the sport of curling by creating opportunities and removing obstacles to curl for everyone, particularly for populations who have historically had less involvement in curling and other winter sports. The amount of assistance will be provided based on the number of requests each season. You can request assistance during the registration process.
Who Can Join: Individual sign up. No curling experience necessary. Must be between 5 and 21 years of age.
Dates: Most Sundays during the curling season. See the club calendar for this season's schedule.
Time: 1:45 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Coordinators: Dina Gerber and Derek Corbett.
Cost: $100 (fall or winter session).

Junior Advanced Commitment Program

Description: Focused training for juniors interested in enhancing curling skills and going to tournaments. Advanced commitment juniors are encouraged to commit to practice at least one other day per week (in addition to Sunday) and are provided with dedicated ice time Saturday mornings from 8:00 to 10:00 AM for additional practice.
Who Can Enroll: Individual sign up. At least one previous Juniors program or curling league required. Must be 10 - 21 years of age and able to deliver a curling stone down a full sheet.
Dates: Most Sundays during the curling season. See the club calendar for this season's schedule.
Time: 12:45pm - 3pm. The first hour will mostly involve learning and practicing skills, techniques and strategies. The second hour will be focused on game play.
Coordinators: Derek Corbett and Dina Gerber.
Cost: $203 (fall only), $178.50 (winter only), $311.50 (both sessions, split into payments of $203 and $108.50). Those enrolled in the Advanced Commitment Program receive all the benefits of a standard membership at Triangle Curling Club. The Advanced Commitment program is treated as a standard league for pricing, so the prices given assume the curler qualifies for the 30% student discount. For more pricing and benefits info, please see Membership and Dues Structure.

Why Curling for Juniors?

Curling is an inclusive sport that ANYONE can excel at, and we're super excited to be offering young people the chance to learn new skills, build confidence, and develop leadership and teamwork abilities through participation in this fantastic and fast-growing sport. Curling is a game built on a tradition of sportsmanship and sociability, where no one sits out, every team member is essential, and every game begins and ends with a hearty handshake.

Our team of instructors includes a former junior curler who competed at the World Junior Championships. We provide all the equipment your child needs to get started.

  • Wear warm clothes - hats and gloves strongly encouraged - Kids should wear clean sneakers on the ice.
  • All other curling equipment will be provided.
  • All Head instructors will have passed a background check and passed USA Olympics Safe Sport program.
  • One caregiver will be required to stay during the instruction period. The warm room will be open for parents during this time. We do encourage parents to help out on the ice if they so desire. Please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to let us know you are willing to help out so we can sign you up and send you the Safe Sport link that is required of all volunteers to complete before helping on the ice.
  • Children 5-8 are strongly encouraged to wear a helmet when on ice (bike helmet is acceptable).
  • Minor Waiver must be completed annually.
  • Snacks will be provided by Triangle Curling for the first session. After that parents may be asked to sign up to bring snacks each session.

Triangle Junior Bonspiel

Our Triangle Junior Bonspiel is held every January. Check back in the Fall of 2024 for updated information about the 2025 Triangle Junior Bonspiel.
