Joining a League

Thinking about curling in a league? You're in the right place. When you register for a league, you become a member of Triangle Curling Club. Beyond league participation, your membership provides several additional benefits:

  • New members receive an engraved club name tag.
  • Membership with regional and national governing bodies: The Grand National Curling Club (GNCC), United States Curling Association (USCA, a.k.a. USA Curling), and United States Women's Curling Association (USWCA, when applicable)
  • Voting rights for board of directors elections and other matters (18+ only)
  • Unlimited sparing and practice time*
  • Building access**
  • Discounted rates on private rentals***
  • Website login and access to our private membership Facebook group (email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for access)

* At least one other adult must be in the building when someone is curling.
** Members may be required to attend an additional info session for building access.
*** Rentals booked under the discounted rate are not staffed. The member is responsible for organizing and running the event, including recruiting volunteers, opening and closing the building if necessary, ice prep, instruction, bartending, collecting the balance due, and cleaning up.

New curlers

We welcome new curlers at Triangle Curling! There are two easy paths to get started:

Path 1. Our Saturday Instructional Program is an eight-week program that combines instruction and game play. From the fundamentals to strategy and etiquette, this is an excellent way to get started in curling.

Path 2. If you'd rather jump into a league, you can do that too! Take a single Learn-to-Curl class and follow it up with an Introduction to League Play, and you will be fit to join any of our regular curling leagues.

If you're extra eager to get the most out of curling, you can sign up for the Saturday Instructional Program and a regular league at the same time. We have many curlers who have been successful with both paths, so it is a personal preference which you may prefer. If you would like to build a solid foundation before you join a league, Path #1 is the way to go. If you want to jump right in and learn as you go, Path #2 is for you. Regardless of the path you choose, you will become a member of Triangle Curling with all the benefits listed above.

Junior curlers in leagues

All of our leagues are considered adult leagues. However, junior members ages 12 to 17 may join these leagues after obtaining permission from one of our juniors coordinators. While all Triangle Curling members are expected to follow the Code of Conduct, parents should be aware that accommodations for juniors cannot be guaranteed in leagues, including others' use of language or alcoholic beverages. Junior members that have demonstrated knowledge of the game, its rules, etiquette, and basic proficiency of gameplay may contact a juniors coordinator at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to receive permission for league play.

All juniors under the age of 21 are, of course, encouraged to participate in one of our juniors programs.

How to register

Registration opens twice per year to align with the beginning of league sessions:

  1. Mid-August, for our fall leagues
  2. Mid-December, for our winter leagues

*Note: In Winter Olympic years, we will have a 3rd league session in the spring, with registration opening in March

  • When registration is open, you will see a green button at the top of this page that says "Register Now". Click it and fill out the form to register.
  • After you submit your registration, you will receive a PayPal invoice, usually within 24 hours. Your registration is not complete until this invoice is paid.
  • After payment is received, you will receive follow-up emails regarding your online account, and you will be added to the rosters for leagues you have selected.
  • You will receive additional email communications from your league coordinators before the first day of leagues.
  • Want to be notified when registration opens? Sign up here.

Membership rates

Keeping ice frozen is expensive! Membership dues are the primary source of the funds needed to run basic operations. The board of directors sets membership rates each summer before fall registration. A minor increase in membership dues should be expected most years to keep up with inflation and other costs.

There are two membership plans available depending on how many leagues you plan to join. Each membership lasts until the end of our fiscal year, June 30, and for purposes of continuity, any member that signs up in the following fall session is considered to not have any lapse in membership. Pro-rated membership options are not available. Our current membership is split approximately half and half between these two plans.

  • Full Year Membership **Recommended**
    • Covers 2 leagues during the Fall sessions and 2 leagues during the Winter Session (and 2 leagues in the Spring Session for Olympic years)
    • Lower price for additional leagues
  • Single League Membership
    • Covers a single league during one session (fall or winter)

Reciprocal membership is available for members of other curling clubs, and social membership is available for non-curling members. See the table below for the cost breakdown.
