Presidents Message

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our members and their families a safe and happy holiday season. I hope Santa brings you all the curling gear you need. This past season marks the beginning of our second year on our contract with the Polar Ice House. Although we may lose some money on Sunday curling we are holding our own and hope to increase the number of members and teams for the 2012 season. We hosted two Bonspiels this past summer (the GNCC Arena Championships and the Carolina Classic) and both were resounding successes. Plans are underway for next year’s Classic which will be the 5th anniversary and it will be the best yet. On December 23 the Club will have a table set up at the RBC Centre during a game between the Hurricanes and Ottawa Senators. We hope you can drop by and see us if you are there. We are also hoping to do a small presentation at the Raleigh Winterfest in downtown Raleigh. Registration for the upcoming season is now open, please sign-up, as well we have two Learn to Curls and several pick-ups scheduled for early January, as well as the January 1st one day, get the word out for anyone who might want to try curling. We have been taping some of the curling that is being broadcast in Canada and hope to have some “get togethers” to watch these events. As always we are a club of volunteers and everyone is invited to help in any way they can, your expertise may be of great value to the club as we continue to grow and move towards dedicated ice. Contact myself or any board member if you have any ideas or can assist in any of our endeavours. Lea Franklin President Triangle Curling Club
