Dispatches from the Cherry Blossom

The Triangle Curling Club was well represented at the March 25, 2011 Potomac Cherry Blossom Bonspiel. 4 full triangle teams competed as well as 2 on a Nutmeg/Triangle Team and one with a team from Knoxville. While the 4 full teams did not fare as well as we would have liked they held their own. It was unfortunate the draw worked out that on Saturday afternoon all 4 teams were playing each other. Team Hamilton (Dave and Pam Hamilton, Cliff Gray and Lea Franklin) were defeated by Murray and Kathy Jackson, Sue Mitchell and Tim DeVaul. That put team Hamilton to 0 -3 and out. Team Jackson went on to play later that evening and lose to go 1 -3. Team Scheck (Dan Scheck, Nick Witcraft, Mario Riveron and Keith DeBickes (Florida) played Team Collins (Rich Collins, Brian Schoolman, Brent Cooke (Richmond) and Bill Yantis. Scheck prevailed and went on to lose later that day to finish 2 -2 while Collins went 1- 2. Peter Zazowski played with his Father and sister from Knoxville and although they played well they went 0- 3. The kudos go to new curlers Amy Hobbie and Patrick Rabenold who played on a Nutmeg/Triangle team. They went 2 – 3 only to lose in the third event finals on Sunday. Check out Facebook to see them piped in for the finals. As Usual the food was OUTRAGEOUS, pork loin, deep fried turkey, sushi and chicken wings and fries, many thanks to all of the members at Potomac who made this another great bonspiel.
